As I have already described in a former thread, my tank is cube-shaped and its dimensions are : LxWxH = 70x60x70 cm [~(27x23x27 in)]->(V=~250lt of water/~66gal)...My plans for this set-up is initially the keeping of soft corals, eg Sarcophyton sp,Sinularia sp,yellow polyps, Pachyclavularia sp and mayby some macroalgae as Caulerpa sp... I am already owning two (quite powerful, I think) Powerheads:eek:ne at 2000lt/h(!) and one at 1400lt/h. Due to the dimensions of my tank,IMHO the first one might be too powerful for me,so that it could blow my water out of the tank, couldn;t it? I'm just thinking of including the second one (RENA PH 1400lt/h) as the main water-flow source and purchasing another 2 smaller PH's (probably at 600 or 900lt/h each) to provide the system with the essential turbulence. What's your opinion? Could you suggest any positioning scheme, taking into account my tank's cubic shape?

Can you get SQWD devices in your country? If not, I'd opt for two smaller powerheads on a wavemaking timer. Two 1400lt/h would actually work fine in this situation.

I am so sick and tired of dealing with powerheads, If you can afford it, I would try out a Tunze stream, or ocean motion, or some other form of crazy powered wave maker.

I have not tried any myself, but they have received alot of praise from the other guys here, and will probably be one of my next purchases after a real skimmer.

I use two Tunze Streams in my tank, and there's nothing in the way of a sandstorm and all of the inhabitants of the tank cope fine with it (including a RBTA). I think key was that the Streams I have are controllable (they're the 6000s, the lowest flow controllable Streams).

Note that most of my corals are SPS. The inhabitants you mention would do well with less current. If you end up moving into SPS (as a lot of people do) than a lot of current will be great. As it is, your leathers will likely have no problem (though they may take a week to adapt to stronger flow), the pachyclavularia will love it (as long as they're not directly in the flow they will appreciate the random currents that result) and the yellow polyps I'm not sure about.
