pump question

I bought a "Quiet One" pump off ebay - is there a standard way to tell which is the inlet and which is the outlet?

Hi, put it in a buckett of water and plug it in. That's what I'd do. :wink:

they diff sizes? i'm going to say the smaller hole is the outlet.. but yes, put in a bucket works best.. =P

oh yeah, if it's an external pump, the vertical opening is the outlet, the horizontal opening is the inlet to the pump

How 'bout this way - Is the inlet in the center of the impeller and the outlet along the edges?

Doh!!! It never occurred to me it might be an external pump. All of my pumps are submersible. So the buckett thing definately isn't a good idea. The inlet should be on the end with the impeller.
