Hi there,

I have a 29-gal with an Eclipse 3 hood that's rated at 250GPH. Is this enough flow if I'm slowly changing from a FOWLR to reef? I only have a few polyps and a leather coral for now, both doing well.

I was thinking of adding another powerhead, but just wanted to see what you guys thought.

I would definately add another powerhead. You want to be getting your circulation up to around 10-15 X tank volume per hour, for most softies. This is also good because if one powerhead fails, you will have a backup.
Also you really need some more light for your corals.

I suggest one or two of these.

get the 901. you can never have too much current.
Would also be a good idea to get a wave maker when you get the cash.

But DO NOT buy them from a LFS (unless you can get close to the price listed but I doubt it.) I keep seeing them sold for like 90 dollars which is udderly ridiculous.

I have two major problems with those power heads.

1. The sweeper tends to break after a few months and then it just turns into a normal powerhead.
2. The flow rate on the largest model literally blows (no pun intended). I think its around 290 gph if im not mistaken.

You can get an aquaclear or a big rio or just a normal powerhead for the same price with like 3 times the flow rate. If you cant afford a wavemaker at this moment just get the pump and set everything up and get the wavemaker when you get the cash. My tanks been up for an eternity without a wave maker and everyone is happy. First and foremost you need a high high current before you need wave patterns.
