Should my actinic and daylight bulbs be on at the same time?

I have two types of bulbs in my compact fluorescent fixture. There is a daylight bulb and an actinic bulb. When should the actinic bulb on? I have been using the actinic bulb at the same time I have been using the daylight bulb. The actinic bulb stays on an extra hour before and after the daylight bulb, but that the right way to use them? I was wondering if I should be using the bulbs seperately, so there is both day and night and the tank is never dark?

WHat you are doing sounds just fine. Many people have the actinic come on before and go off an hour or so after the day light bulbs weather they are PC, VHO or MH.
