Looking to buying that light for my planned 30g tank. I've heard good reviews about it , and i want my first light purchase to be my (hopefully) last.

My question is , is there anything that i CAN'T keep in my 30g Long tank with that?

i'm not 100% sure what i'm going to put in my tank as far as corals go just yet , but i want to be sure i'm as limited as possible when finalizing my game plan.

I don't want anything really high-matience for corals , just want a light that will give me the greatest range of selecting anything i want.

Thanks in advance,
Procell

[edit] by the way , is there a handy website that happens to list a good majority of corals / fish and thier light requirements? I'm new to reef-keeping , and so far the lighting debate is the most confusing.
Is there at least a general "rule of thumb" i should go by?

......why oh why didn't i just stick with Sea Monkeys.......

Welcome to Reefs.org!

That looks like a nice light

I would love to see a list of corals and their light requirements too, so hopefully someone will chime in soon with that.

How long is that tank?

What Knucke said. I like that light but, it doesn't have any supplemental lighting to go with it. If you wanted to do dawn to dusk lighting, that isn't the light. But your corals really don't need it, it just looks kewl.

The lamp is a 150W HQI bulb...

That said ( http://reefs.org/library/newbiehelp.htm#lights ), you should be able to keep most anything under it in a shallow enough tank. The gallonage of the tank really doesn't mean a whole lot so long as its not too deep. I would say a 29g standard tank is about as deep as you want to get with clams or some of the sps for good coloration/growth. But, you can keep just about any light requiring organism under that lamp.

One thing you do need to find out: how often should that bulb be replaced? I would daresay it needs replacement every 8or 9 months at least. (Otherwise the PAR and spectrum really fall)

although i haven't actually bought the tank yet , i'm planning on a 30G Long tank

dimensions would be 36" X 18" X 12" (i think that's right)

Think that light will be enough to fully light the entire 36" ?

I have no idea about the spread coming out of that setup. Never seen one myself. Ask the company for #s on the coverage?

Wade, I never read that Newbie help.htm thing before. Just chock full of good stuff isin't it?

Do you think you could make the font a bit darker? It may be just me but its kind of hard on the eyes

Thanks

It's set for the time being, but in a few weeks/month it'll be reformatted so help with the reading issue. It was just formatted to fit the format of the site, sorry about that.
