IME just feeding the fish, supplementing Ca/Alk/Mg and leaving things alone has worked best for me.

IMO most additives and liquid goo does more harm than good (ie. more damaging to water quality than any benefit it might be providing).

Liquid Gold is wood polish. At least the only Liquid Gold I have seen, if there is a reef product with the same name I am not familiar with it.

In general additives are a bad idea IMO, unless you have a good idea of what they do and why you are adding them. FWIW I don't use any additives, but I do run a Calcium reactor.

Alright, just because I was curious I did a google search to find out what this "Liquid Gold" is.

http://www.aquariumguys.com/liquidgold16oz.html

Liquid Gold Pro Plus is a complete additive for reef and saltwater aquariums. It contains over 200 ingredients including amino acids, trace elements, vitamins, stable Vitamin C, complex organic nutrients, major essential elements and many other additives required for growth by fishes, corals, and invertebrates.

I would not put that in my tank. I think it will hurt your water quality and not ad anything necessary that a nice water change will not care of.

There is a lot of snake oil out there for reef tanks. Not saying that is what this stuff is, but none of those supplements that make claims like that are necessary IMO.

Humans require Vitamin C & D. Imagine what would happen in someone tried dosing it to you in the air instead of through your food.

Just food for thought.... :)

I do regular water changes and use Limewater for topoff. Nothing more, nothing less. I feed nutritious foods but not an excess.

That is Albert Thiels old addative. I guess he sold it to coralife. I agree it is probably not needed, but I'm sure it is safe, but probably a less quality product now.
