Well yall have pretty much talked me away from a goby. Everybody said they would wreck my live sand, so what about a blenny? Basically, I just like the little critters that sit and dart around. I know some blennies need plenty of natural algae, and my tank is new, so are there any cool blennies i could keep in a new tank w/o messin up the sand bed? Thanks!

There are many Gobies you can keep that won't touch your sand. What is in the tank now?

I have clown gobies, torpedo gobies, watchman gobies. They are great reef safe fish and are very hardy. I find them to be less prone to cause trouble in a reef tank than the blennies.

Yeah why no gobies? Very good inhabitants for a reef tank...

i've asked alot of people on alot of boards (including this one), and most people are tellin me that gobies will sift through the sand bed too much. kill the infauna and stuff that makes it live. some mean to and some dont, but either way the bacteria and other critters get killed from all the siftin on the sand

Most will not disturb the sandbed.

Sand sifting and Engineer gobies surley will and to a much lesser extent some watchman gobies will slightly disturb the s/b. This leaves quite a few that live in the water colum of that perch and hover over the rock - the perfect fish.IMHO. Clowns, citrons, torpedo, dart, trimma, fire fish, etc...

What size tank do you have and what type of livestock is in it, or will be?

I have a yasha goby and a pink speckled goby...both are model citizens.

Btw, Andy...my pink speckled goby is changing color...I suspect he's hooking up with a different pistol shrimp...one that must have come in on LR.

I have a 46bow, and right now have two blue damsels that have been cycling the tank for over a month. Its done now, so i'm ready for some more livestock. I'm getting rid of those and getting a fairy wrasse monday, and eventually want 2 perculas, orchid dottyback, flame angel, and then a goby or blenny of some sort

Good luck getting the damsels out...if you're getting a wrasse on Monday, you might want to start now! :D

I agree with Chris on the stocking levels.

You could load it up with some great small Gobies though!

A whole tank full of Trimma Sp.

Id ditch the flame angel...I am fond of flame angel though but with your plans on the other fish it will just be too big..that or ditch the dottyback...It would be cool to have the flame angel, two perculas, and the wrasse. That would be a good load there..
