Hey Guys,
I am very new to this. Actually, I am in the planning stages. I have a 90 gallon tank and I want to have a sump in my final setup. Because of the location of the tank there is no way to put a sump below the tank. The only way I can do it is to put it directly behind the tank. Would this work? The impression I am getting is that the only force that really feeds the water into the sump is gravity. Would I need to make my sump half the height of my tank or something along those lines? That seems to be the solution, but I want to ask someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Hi and :welcome:

Having the sump behind the tank would work fine as long as the water level in the sump is lower than the water level in the main tank. I think some people here even have the main tank spilling into a tank behind it (by cutting teeth or a slot in the main tank).
