hi, i have seaweed growing in my tank that came with some live rock. it grows pretty fast and i have to keep prunning it, i was wondering if i should take it out completely.

If it dosent look too bad leave it in and it will help with nitrates. otherwise, get something to eat it.

I agree. I think plantlife looks great in the reef aquarium. It adds color and helps with the water quality. I also like the texture difference...something else besides coral.

You could purchase a dawrf angle or a yellow eye kole tang, provided the tank is big enough, and they will keep it under control. If the tank is smaller than a 55, you can get some blue leg hemit crabs, snails, salley light foot crab, some blennies and gobies eat the algea too. It depends on what type of macro algae it is as to if it is good in your tank. Some species can go "sexual" and reproduce in the tank. Sounds great but what that translates to is the overload of nutrients released can poison your tank and kill off your inhabitants.

You should try and identify what species it is, as the Caulerpa family is the type that can nuke your tank. Can you post a picture? If it looks like one of these, you might want to do some research and take it out.

thanks for the link it appears to be Caulerpa prolifera so i think i'll just keep pruning. my tank is only 15 gal so i think a dwarf angel is out of the question also i think nemo is a bit aggresive has already seen off two friends.
