Hi,
I'm having an apparent explosion of snails. It started when I was putting hermits into the tank, well several of the dozen I bought were actually snails in snail shells instead of hermits in snail shells. (Who'd have thunk it??) Well the first night they were in there, I noticed these tiny "sticky bubbles" on the sides of the tank/glass. Well they've grown into tiny snails. This morning while still dark, I'm noticing about 100 of them on my front glass. Will they all live? do most die? Should I remove them? (How? doing what with them?)

Thanks!
Brian

Most will die off without adequate food or will be eaten by other predators in the tank. You could try to remove them and trade them in at your LFS, though I doubt you would get much for them.

Critters you have that eat snails:

Sixline
hermits
Bumble Bee Snails (some species)

I'd just leave them and let the snails regulate their own population.

Some hermits like to eat snails. Rock crabs, which are common LR hitchikers, also like snails very much.
