Hey fellow reefkeepers, Ive been a bit slack with my reefkeeping lately but decided enough was enough, I TOTALLY cleaned my tank, did a few water changes and bought a new filter, then finally got onto a metal halide for my 90Litre tank. its 150 watts so Im looking at around 6x the watts per gallon ratio thing so i guess im lookin at keeping most corals now other than sps?

And what a difference i bought some new coral, (mushrooms, plate coral, and a brain (i think it is!) and taking photos is SO much easier!

Not exactly the brilliant shots I've seen here over and over but for me these are excellent!

Heres some pics some pics so far, and for the tang police calm down he's only there for a little while ok!

Heres the Brain, not sure what type though any ideas?

Should I put it on the sand or not? Its about half way up at the moment.

Welcome back.

Your brain coral is a Trachyphyllia sp. It's not expanded yet (i'm guessing it's one of your new additions), so look for it to baloon to twice that size. The rock placement is fine. Sand is okay for this coral too, as it is not very picky.

The 150W DE MH is a good step for you. As long as you keep the tank temp down, you're in good shape. All corals except some of the more demanding SPS as well as some Tridacnas are fair game now. Of course, add things slowly and observe.

Keep feeding that tang. It's a bit skinny, but most juveniles are. But expect it to grow fast, so make sure that next tank is ready for it soon

Thanks Len, yeah the Trachyphyllia sp only went in yesterday, so not much movement yet, same with my plate coral, tenticles not expanding at all yet..

Thanks for the advice and the big tank will be ready thats for sure.
