hello I am new to the hobby and have a 50 gallon reef tank that has cycled and is ready to go. I have a few mushrooms and zoo's but I want more :D . but I want to learn all I can about soft corals. I can not find much info on the web and was wondering if anyone could suggest a web site or book to really learn about all the different softies and their car. any help would be great. thanks.

Welcome to RDO!

Don't really have any suggestion, but take a look at what is available in LFS and online vendors (such as MarineDepotLive.com and exoticfish.com) and let us know what you want to have. Then you can search for the softcoral's care online, or ask some of the people here.

Glad to know people are eager to learn, rather than buy something without much research, and end up with a impropriate coral.

hmm if your new i hope some one tolf you this already DONT TRUST LFS EMPLOYEES. most are on commision and wont even admit it. most dont even know wtf they are saying.

i worked a an lfs sadly as a maintance person :( and its funny the employees always came to ask me questions. then i knoticed why i wasnt on sales... i was to hounest with the people and gave them what they needed. so small profit for the lfs. :P anyways. dont trust anyone who could possiably gain from your purcheses. sorry for spelling.

thanks for the replies. I used to work at a LFS and know all about workers notknowing jack. I really dont want to kill anything so I do want to learn all I can up front. I have a few shrooms and polyps that came on my live rock and they are doing good so far. I can stare at the tank for hours and always see new things so I am no reall hurry yet. thanks again.
