I recently purchased a Euro-Reef RS 80 skimmer, which seems to be operating much better that the seaclone 100 I owned. The question is I have it set up for in sump operation and I am generating plenty of bubbles but they a white, I thought I would get alot of green and brown junk. My tank is very clear and have noticed that the algea problem I had isn't getting worse. My tank is a 46gal bow front with apporx 35lbs of LR, and 1 - 1 1/4" LS. 5 fish, 2 stars, 2 BTA, and numerous hermits and snails, plenty of circulation and adequate lighting. Water parameters are good. The other ? should I have to fine tune the skimmer every so often? Thanks for the advice in advance, I'm fairly new to the reef set-up and this has been alot of help. Thanks.......Dave

The RS-80 will out skim the seaclone by about 15-20 times. Maybe 100 times. Nice upgrade! Sometimes they will take a couple of weeks before they break in and skim well. Sometimes only a couple of days.
Yes, you may have to tweak it a little bit from time to time as the collection cup, inner body, and venturi intake get dirty. Maybe for the time being you should get the bubbles a little lower in the neck and skim a little dryer until you start to get some dark green gunk in the throat. As it breaks in you can then raise the bubble column into the throat and skim wetter if you need or want.

IF you just installed it it will take a few days to start collecting crap. The RS 80 is a good skimmer, I had the same skimmer on my 60 and was quite pleased with the amount og gunk it took out. Once you get it where you like it you will not really need to adjust it.

if you have a problem dialing in the skimmate with just the water hieght adjustment... you might want to place an air valve on the air inlet to the venturi. you can apply a little restriction and get a finer bubble output....

good skimmer
