Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.

I just bought a 300 gallon used established running reef aquarium that was not well taken care of.

There was a lot of red algae all over the rocks and the sand was pretty ugly too (he told me the sand was 5 years old)

Q: Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean all this live rock before setting this aquarium back up. Type of brush, type of solution (or maybe just water for all I know). I mean I want to rid the rocks and the sand of parasites before putting my fish in the new thank.

Thanks so much!!!

James

I'd toss the sand and get new. Or go bare bottom.

Any kind of brush will work. A tooth brush or a wire brush would be good.

I'd get a bucket of saltwater and keep dipping the rock in it to rinse it off as you brush. It's a lot of work, but it needs to be done.

Exactly. I'd also toss the sand after I dredged it for critters :)
