Fresh Water Reservoir

I need a 5 - 10 gallon container to hold fresh water. The problem is that it's going to sit next to the tank in the living room on the coffee table. Anyone have any ideas of what can I use that won't aggrivate my wife because it looks too bad?

I found a plain white 5 gal paint bucket that doesn't look too bad at my local hardware store.

Why "on the coffee table"?

You could just use a 5-10 gl tank, and cover it with something. You could use a nice large vase, get creative!

I suggest you ask your wife to pick something out, and as long as it can hold water you should be fine(no metal)

Depending on your stand I would just say get a tank or small garbage can and stick it underneath..if you have a cabinet stand that would be the best and if you have a metal stand all you have to do is the same thing but just get a sheet or something and cover the opening. I read that again and I'm confused..are you saying the TANK is on the coffee table or the CONTAINER is GOING to be?

go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls. you could buy a decorative chest and put a plastic jug inside it. drill a hole in the back for the water line.

The tank is in the corner of the room, next to a coffee table. I'm trying to figure out where to place a fresh water resevoir. It's either going to be on/under the coffee table, or if I can find a 5 or 10 gallon container 4 inches wide, I could place it behind the tank.

Why "on the coffee table"?

I'm hoping to just use gravity to feed the sump via a float switch. The sump is actually sitting on the bottom of the stand, five inches above the floor. If I have the fresh water tank on the floor, I'd need to rig a pump driven auto top off thing, right?

Speaking of which,

That looks amazing. How do you get the fresh water into the tank?
