My ORA naked clowns have started to get grey spots on them and one has a black spot right where his side fin meets its body that has gotten bigger. At first I thought it was ick because i read that it can be white or black, but the guy at the LFS said he didn't think it was that by my description. I cannot get a clear picture of it to post, i've tried a bunch of times but no dice. I have a goby, scooter blenny, royal gramma basslet, and Bicolor blenny and none of they have any dots on them.

How long have you had the clowns? Any new fish added just before you noticed this issue?

Often, not always (!), black spots on a clown are okay.
It's the gray spots that can be an issue.

Are the clowns acting normal, eating ok?

Please try your best to get a pic, even if it is not a close up. It is a poor idea to treat for something when you don't know what you are dealing with.

Had the clowns for 3 months, started noticing the grey spots about 1.5 months ago and they seemed to mostly go away then came back more. Sounds like ich the way I'm describing it. I will try to get some pics up tonight.

Clowns are eating fine, acting normal.

So believe it or not these are the best pictures I could get. I'm sorry about the bad quality. In the first picture you can see two gray dots towards the clown's head. in the second picture you can see the black mark that is where the body and side fin meet. Sorry again about the poor picture quality!

My clown does not host the FS and I rarely see her come into contact with it. Also if i remember right, the clown started getting the dots before I put the FS. I will definately be monitoring the situation.

Thank you for your concern!

p.s. What is the garlic for and do you have a product that you recommend.

Thanks for getting the pics posted!

In the first pic..are the black marks slightly above the dorsal fin and also slightly in front of it? If so, those are the more common ones you'll see on clowns. Same for the spot in the other photo. They should go away in time on their own.

Where on the fish is the gray area/s?

I've been adding garlic and the spots seemed to start going away and then last night I saw that my male clownfish has 1 large spot behind his left fin. I spent over an hour trying to get some good pics. The one with both clowns in the shot, look at the lower one. What is this charcoal grey spot(s)????

i have one also! those guys are so active at least mine is every time i look into the tank he looks at me lol. mine has a couple of spots and eats like a mad man! i think they are natural. i would not worry about them if he's fine eating i would not bother with it. question where did you buy him?

Try uploading the pics in a smaller size - I think 400 x 640 is one of the choices, they maybe be easier to see the spot then.
Though the pics are not so bad. Fish don't like to pose :)

Same as what I originally told you - if the fish are acting normally and eating with no issue, I wouldn't worry about the spot you are describing (especially if it looks like the earlier spot), they are common on clowns.

I bought them at Country Critters in Patchogue, NY

I will try to post a smaller size, hopefully they are nothing. The clowns are both eating fine and are very active.
