So i've been toying with the idea of getting a reef keeper for my soon to be reef tank. Not sure if it's any good or not so I thought who better to ask than the reefers here on MR... So what do yall think... Good or Bad?

Best $99 I've spent, no more timer issues for the lights, worrying about the heater deciding not to shut off. Plus if the temps climb to high it'll shut the lights but keep the fans going until the temps drop. If I need to add more timers or feature you can just pick up the modules you need.

I love mine, I got it like two weeks ago.

Very easy to program and the basic reef keeper light has 4 outlets.

I set this up.
Outlet 1 actinic light. On Off
Outlet 2 daylights. On Off
Outlet 3 heater. If at 78 shut off (saftey)
Outlet 4 fans if above 80 put fans ( saftey could be a chiller)

can buy extension outlets and I believe a ph probe.

it has a temp probe and a nice interface.

Whats the most plugs that it can run? I have 13 plugs with my equipment.

Stock? 4. But you can simply buy more. I think it will do between 12 and 16 but that's a complete guess.

I'm sure there's things you can plug into a regular outlet that don't need to be controlled. (Like a Vortech, for example, has no need for an RKL outlet)..

It's really an excellent controller in my (very limited regarding controllers) experience.

Question about the Net Module.. that comes for the RKL now?

It is very worth the $99 for the heater security alone.
It can also run salinity, orp, and ph with probes/modules you can purchase, and so much more. It is upgradeable and the best $99 bucks I have spent on my tank. I like the standby mode which shuts off my powerheads and return for 15 mins while I feed my corals. It also has a night mode which can turn off some powerheads in your tank if you like the flow to be a bit lighter when the fish sleep. On mine I have

heater (for redundancy to the heaters sensor)
return pumps (so i can turn them off easily during feeding)
maxijet for flow in tank (that I can turn off in night mode)
ato (dual float switch with timer)

I run my lights separately because I do not need them to do much (just on, off, not multitimer which the rkl can do), I like to use my channels for a little more than just a timer. My lights draw a decent amount of power and only 2 of the 4 outlets on the PC4 can handle them, I have my heater and my ato on those 2 because those are the things I don't want messing up.

Hope this helps,
James

P.S. I can't wait to see a big ole redneck running around Bed-Stuy buying corals. haha. :thrash:

Good point E- thanks you know we all fall succeptable to the occasional brain fart :lol2:- I am going to pick one of these bad mamajamas up as well. No problem Keegan love those guys. Glad they were able to help you out- BUT- I have a prediction for when I meet you at the swap- I dont think your as big as you say- most people, they stress points to the polar opposite of themselves- Im a calm guy- usually the closet psychopath and dont find out till you point out he has toilet paper stuck to his shoe in front of his girlfriend- then he murders 7 people and leave s the comment maker alive to live with what he caused him to do -- Im betting your 4'11" Keegan and weight mmmm. 140 LMFAO!!!
