So I witnessed a double homicide a little while ago.... I had 3 sexy anenome shrimp about 4 months ago that died off one by one. The same fish I have now were present while I had those. I blamed their deaths on high nitrates which have come down drastically since then so I decided to give it another shot. As soon as I put the 2 in, my female clown grabbed one and dragged it straight to the bottom but it flew out of his mouth into the waiting arms of my peppermint shrimp which started devouring it immediately. It was actually somewhat entertaining (although I'd rather have them alive) because the peppermint shrimp was trying to eat his catch while being chased through the rockwork all around the tankby my cleaner shrimp. Simultaneously on the other side of my tank I saw my royal gramma "run" up and snatch the other in his mouth never to be seen again. Within 3-5 seconds of being in the tank they were both dead. How wonderful!

That sucks even more cause sexy shrimp are ten bucks a piece.

Something similar happened to me when I added an entire colony of 20 red cherry shrimp to my fw planted tank... They were all eaten by the fish within minutes, even tho the fish had never attacked the japonica shrimp that already lived in the tank. Lesson learned.
