now my only issues is choosing the right lighting
should i go with metal halides again or do i go to the 6x39w t5ho's on my 65g 36x18x24? looking for expert advice.

T5's will give you as many options (coral wise) as MH's on a tank 18" deep, and they will also run cooler :)

Ideally you want a fixture (or retro kit) with individual reflectors.

Its really simple mh are made for growing corals fast and t5s are more colorfull and have more options, Keep in mind , most growers use mh because of the fast growth

Well he is getting an aquatic life fixture. The bulbs that come with it are awesome. No need to change. in a year or so I already talked to him about ATI bulbs. For now the stock bulbs are good. Unless u get a cheap odyssea fixture. Then they all need to be changed. get a good brand fixture, then your good to go.
