update on my tank.

been cycling for about 2 weeks now... just tested my water and my nitrates a bit too high for now but workin on lowering it.... fyi i have about 130 lbs of fiji white.. and about 40-45 lbs of live rock (goin live rock shopping tommorow), threw a couple damsels in there to build bacteria but they died when my nitrates shot up.

Don't do anything. Let it cycle. 2 weeks is just getting started in the cycle.

Ammonia must be zero most importantly.

+1 ammonia zero then nit. But if you are cycling the liver rock a water change will help a lot.

cycling a new tank: 4-8 weeks before you add anything! Test for ammonia nitrite then nitrate. Once thoose levels are out of the high zone you should be good. Don'rt do a water change. What Barrie is stating if your tank was already cycled and then you added the live rock, it most likely would of caused a spike. Spike meaning the nitrogen cycle again.( ammonia 2 nitrite, nitrite 2 nitrate) so doing a water change to control that.. helps. Your case no, because your are just cycling your tank.. Let it be. Do a little more research and you'll do just great. Patience is the key in this hobby. GL!

BTW...Ammonia & Nitrites killed your fish.... nitrates even at high levels wont kill your fish. Will cause reproduction issues and other things.

I'm with Ozone, a minimum 6 weeks. But go for it, 8 weeks. In the mean time read all you can read. Reefkeeping.com + Wetwebmedia.com some free readings and possibly some of the best. Good luck
