how long can you keep stored water???

how long can you keep pre mixed saltwater?? i have around a gallon and i dont know if i am going to do a water change or not... my cycle just ended and i should do one but my levels r fine... im not sure about ammonia though.. it is either 0 or between 0 and 0.25. but its really close... how long can it be stored? last time i stored water it smelled kinda bad.. like how u leave a a little bit of water in a bottle and leave it in a car for a few months...
