I'm still yet to choose a skimmer for my planned 75RR with 30B sump... I had originally designed the sump to be a display fuge, but abandoned the plans because the design (and the glass I had cut) greatly limited my options with skimmers. (Unless someone on this forum knows of a skimmer that can be used in 16"L x 7"W x 18"H space...)

Anyway, I'm wondering if a skimmer is recommended for use during the cycling period in a new tank.
I'll be getting cured rock from Pets Warehouse in Copaigue or from someone selling from a tank breakdown on MR marketplace.

Which ASM/euroreef would you recommend for a 75RR that's mostly SPS?

Also, can't seem to find any information about how deep of water either of these guys function best in... I plan on having about 11" of water in my sump.

And my question still stands- should I have the skimmer in during the initial cycling period of the setup?

yes kep the skimmer going.you can turn it on for a bit and shut it down at night.look at those skimmer web sites and pick out what right for your setup.i would advise you to double your water volume and thats the skimmer that fits you.so a rated 150 to 200 gallon should be alright

the new octo extreme 160 is really nice as well and with the newer sicce and a better matched pump should be a killer skimmer. can make alot of other recomendations but need to know the amount of space available and price range.
yes run the skimmer during tank cycle but leave lights off
