i brought a life gard quiet 1 pump model 2200 i think that my return pump. what pumps the water out my tank to my sump (the skimmer???) am new to MR help me out please

not really sure what you are asking my friend.. water goes to your sump via your over flow box. what kind of set up you have? tank etc.

You should post a picture of your plumbing/pumps so that we can help you. You should NEVER, EVER pump water TO your sump. It should ALWAYS flow via gravity.

Take it slow my friend, dont rush off to the lfs.. they will sell you something and not always the right thing.after all there job is to sell stuff.

It sounds like you will need a wier (external overflow) but how about giving us the details of your set up and a picture or two. we can help you out with advcie..not based on what we have to sell today.
