i need to buy a return pump for a new 29g reef.

i have a continuous siphon overflow box "1 bulkhead 600gph

it drains into a Eshopps Reef sump 18" x 10" x 16" H. 10gal.
Skimmer area is 12' by 10'.

I wanna by a Mag pump or eheim or if i go cheap a RIO (any experiences with these) I would like a quiet pump. I have exp w/ eheim

also i'm gonna need a good skimmer. Any suggestions on what could fit in my sump?

If you say the overflow box is 600 gph you might want to buy a bigger pump because eventually your going to add stuff to the tank ( phosban reactor,uv sterilizer) you know stuff that will need a supply so maybe a 900 gph as for brand i've never used any of the ones you mentioned but i have used ocean runner 3500 and with a sponge underneath it it's quiet............................

If you are not planning on setting up anything like that... Just get something that flows in the range of 300+/-gph. If you setup something like a 900gph flow rate even if you are allowing for head room... you are going to have a hurricane in a 29g and have probably more water being pushed through than the overflow box will return down to the sump.
The extra flow needed for aerating will be handled by any pumps you have within the tank itself.

Now why would one want to limit down the return. That means that it takes even more power to push water through a smaller opening thus overworking the pump.
Not worth that.
