If you want to bring them to me I'll treat them for you. You have to leave your tank empty (fishless) for 6 weeks and start over with fish slowly.

Hypo is a real PITA and there is still no guarantees. Best bet is to get the fish out, leave tank fishless, and treat the fish in a separate system. It makes no sense to leave the fish in a new system and always have ich in it

Now that u have introduced ich into your tank , u will always have it. How bad is the ich? Covering whole fish? Small spots? Just the way or is. Cycling a new tank with fish is fine, but u probably could have started with a cheap low end fish like damsel. U need to feed them some flake with garlic and do 25% water changes each week if not every 5 days or so and u should see it go away on it's own. I have ich in my tank , having constant alk and good water qwality should take care of the problem.

There is a hyposalintyy treatment reference in atj's marine aquarium site. I actually had an ich problem when I first started my saltwater tank. I followed this reference to a tee and have been ich free for over 7 years. You don't have to live with ich and remember the parasite needs a host to survive or it will die so let the DT go fishless for 4-6 weeks. Hope this helps

not true. you will not ALWAYS have it. if you took all the hosts out of the tank and let the ick naturally die after the 48 days, there will be no ick. and cycling a new tank with fish in it is fine? well yeah its fine if you want to kill that fish. and the damsel thing is a horrible idea too because 2 reasons. damsels are extremely hardy fish, its not accurate to see if a damsel makes it or not, and the fact that if you put the damsels in your tank, then your stuck with that damsel.

and why flakes with garlic?

Since you don't know much about ich I do suggest letting somebody else give it a shot or give it a shot for you at taking care of fish....... And the starting over with the cycle "fish-less"
Add a shrimp like the one from the food market that people eat or some other method. Good luck .

I'm w/ you Jenine! (Did I spell that right?) People who don't know what they are talking about should really not give advice. SMH

Cycling a tank w/ fish, always having ich and worrying about params in an ich outbreak? What do params have to do with ich? Ich will live in anything but hyposalinity. Parameters are irrelevant.

If you need to you can always raise the temps in your tank to speed up the ich's life cycle. Thus putting an end to ich in your tank. The fish are probably stressed because of new tank cycle. Thus even bringing them to someone else or transporting the fish will just allow the fish to continue being stressed.
Leave the fish in the tank and raise the temp to 83* don't introduce anything new into the tank.

Are you saying if you keep your tank at 83 degrees ich will go away for good? If so, that's not true at all.

I'm also having a hard time understanding why moving fish out of a stressful environment and putting them in one much more healthy is more stressful on the fish?
