A tip from an Information Technology Engineer. Only hook up the bare essentials on it. like your power heads for water movement, and your heater. Just the things that will sutain your aqarium unitl the lights come back on. Anything with a motor in it will destroy that battery so fast you wouldn't even think that UPS did anything but act as another extension cord.

All electronics for my tank go through my UPS, for the line conditioning. In the event of an electrical service outage, my UPS is programmed only to provide battery power to my Tunze 6055's and (little) return pump. My heater, Vortechs, skimmer, lights and chiller stay off to maximize the run time. The UPS also does a zero transfer time, but it's neglible for the pumps.
Where I live, I have semi-frequent power blips, and to me, this UPS is my insurance policy for my inhabitants.

Different voltages will get you different results so the lower the voltage, the longer it will run.I only use it for my MP10.

Yes here too. The backup powers only a powerhead for circulation. In the event that the outage lasts for a while, I'll hopefully be around to plug in the generator as the backup of a backup

Batteries on backups never seem to last though.
Batteries on back up isn't meant to keep your devices running for a long time. In the event of a power outage, it's meant to allow you to shut off your computer normally and save your work.
on a 750AV UPS, it gives you 5 minutes of battery time, so you'd figured with a low wattage pump you should at least 45 minutes or more out of it.
I wouldn't put any high wattage devices on there like heaters.

+1 they were initially designed to keep servers on in the event of an outage so you could gracefully shut them down and avoid data corruption. Servers are HUGE POWER hungry pieces of technology that will kill even the best UPS units within 15 minutes (except those huge UPS units half the size of a server rack that weigh a thousand pounds). Running powerheads for circulation will get you a good amount of time; a couple of hours on a higher end model.

I use a 1200 ups back up...but think about it..with the amount of power that we draw...we're good on a black out for 1 - 2 hours tops! if you can do it..get a generator for the house
