like anything else if it is set up properly.with a float to shut off pump.and or timer and you set the pump to your evap rate.i used this pump for a year set up that way.this is a metering pump with a adjustable flow rate there is not a stream of water flowing out of this pump. but i do appreciate your concern neptune.
