i am gauging intrest in a small 1" may be alittle bigger frag of the green leather that ins in the show tank at absolutely fish. any one that as gone there knows this leather and can tell you it is extremly nice and rare since it is basicly extint in the wild. I have been thinking fraging mine but before i do i want to see if it is worth it. i am taking offers if they are fair i will frag it and let it attach to a rock before i will sell it so it may be a few weeks. i am willing to take partial or full trade for it if you have some nice rare coral.

thanks

ps if you search rare leather on this site and click on the one that says absolutley fish you can read what people say about it.

A friend of mine wants to trade me the sinularia for some zoos I have, but Ive heard that alleopathy on those sinularia are among the worst for SPS growth. They are pretty though not sure I'd want it in my tank though

I'll take a frag when you have them, given that price or trade conditions are fair. I've been trying to get them to sell me a frag but they always have refused me on it.

Let me know what you are thinking $$$ wise or what you would accept as a trade. I'd prefer my frag not attached to any rocks so when you are ready to snip send me a note.

Also, on a personal note given that they are rare I think it is our responsibility to get a good colony of this coral going in as many tanks as possible so that it can once again flurish. With that said we should put our greedy ambitions aside and do the right thing.

Thanks

i not sure how much make me an offer when they sell pieces and it is rare for them to sell it and there is talk that they may not sell it again at least not any time soon they sell for between 200-500 dollars for a 3"-7" piece so let me know whaty you think is fair and the highest fair offer will get it. if you don't want it attached that is fine just let me know.

Don't get hung up on "rare" corals. Sooner or later you'll realize that nothing in this hobby is actually rare.

Rich got that right. Rare just means that you pay alot of money for it. I think just be patient and check the sale and trade forums and getting it from a fellow reefer. Saves you money and it saves the reefs buying it as frags. I remember a while back orange recordias was the hottest thing going for insane prices. Now many people have them for cheap even trading them for colorful zoos.

200 - 500 ..! Way over what I would pay for it.

I certainly agree with Rich. I've see the word rare used to often. Mostly associated with jacking the price up as much as possible.

Well it looks like I'll continue to wait. No big deal. I'll get a new clam instead.

Boy if I could get $200-$500 for mine I would sell it in an instant.

hint hint?..lol Im guessing this is also the train of thought of absolutely fish.

BTW the ebay link's coral is not the one I think being discussed, its a neon green sinularia or nepthea, Im guessing its more of a nepthea.

i know there are a lot of thinks being called rare but unlike those other thing this coral is 99% extinic in the wild and what little is left can not be taken. bob fenner a few years ago hwen he was at absolutely fsh said that there where only 2 know colonies in captivity the one at the store and one in some public aquarium on the out west so be careful that the people saying they have it for sale have the real thing of somthing close to it.

Thanks, I'll keep and eye on it.

Sorry to get ethical and all but precisely because the reason that it is 99% extinct in the wild we should not be jacking prices to the point of obscurity.

We should be cultivating it and getting colonies going all over the place. So that future generations can enjoy it and maybe help recover the wild population.

Heck if I get my hands on it and get it to grow good. I'll make it available to anyone who wants it for free and flood the market.

Well enough on the subject. Thanks for your reply and best of luck.

i will post a picture to night my peice is still small so it looks a little different from what is at absolutely fish. i know mine is the real thing because i work there and got it from there. it is a shame that rare things are expensive but that is how this world works.
