hey I have had a canister filter, then a wet/dry, and now I have settled in with a fuge. it is the most stable so far. don't buy one, make one, easy DIY project buy a return pump and an overflow box and your done.

I have an overflow box with a U tube and when my power goes out it hasn't lost suction yet. been up and running for a year and a half. always has suction. What am I missing about this? do people have problems with overflow boxes? what have you heard?

well you can use a canister filter, however you have to constantly clean it. As it is working and picking up food and crap and stuff that stuff gets trapped in the canister filter and starts to produce nitrates. I wouldn't use one personally on a salt tank because I don't have time for filter...
