Salifert?s Coralline Aminoacids

Reefbuilder has an article that boost Salifert amino acid supplement that increase sps growth. Anybody used it? Are they advertising a product that is useless? I attached a link to the article.

+1 on this question. I read that article, I was about to ask the same question. I know many use Amino acids and or vitamins as part of their husbandry.

I think it's aspartic acid. That's what prompted me to dig through old MR posts for more data.

I don't believe that the study referred to aspartic acid other than to say that is was minimal in their study. I believe they based their study on 8 or 10 other amino acids which they felt were essential.

This is what I was referencing , it's at the begining of the article:

We could not detect tryptophan or cysteine, nor distinguish between the amino acid pairs glutamic acid and glutamine, or aspartic acid and asparagine. Eight amino acids normally considered essential for animals were made by the five corals tested, although some of them were made only in small quantities. These eight amino acids are valine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine histidine, methionine and lysine. The ability of cnidarians to synthesize these amino acids could be yet another indicator of a separate evolutionary history of the cnidarians from the rest of the Metazoa.

I'm all ears... I followed a 2002 thread on RC between Habib/RFH and others. Others that used CAA has reported positive reactions from their tanks, but with everything especially dosing, start slow and well below the recommended amount. There's also many threads regarding aspartic acid, I might have both threads blurred.

Let's hear from some of knowledgeable members mentioned earlier today chime in.

I use Elos AA but im running out soon and also saw this article. Thought about trying it out since its much cheaper but the article makes it sound like an advertisement almost.

Hopefully someone can chime in that has used this.
