Ok, here goes. Everytime i walk in to a store for corals, they are all under the actinic lights only. They look amazing and the colors pop. Now comes the issues. Put them in to our tanks with the MH lights and they burn to a crisp within days. I know what youll say. Put them lower under shade then gradually bring them up. WTF, Now I have to play with my corals just to acclimate them to the normal lighting conditions? Sps should be under intense lights at the stores so first of all you see what you get but more importantly they survive in your reef at home. I mean cmon, who just has only actinics on in their tanks and who has the time to start playing with where their corals should be placed every week or so. All my SPS are on the bottom of my tank under shelter cause the lights are so intense they cant handle it. At this rate they will stay there for a long time before they will make their way up and my tank is 3 feet high with the MH 2 feet above the glass. For what its worth which is nothing, I doubt anything will change cause if they start putting their SPS in the stores under normal lights, people wont buy them as quickly and if they die youll be back for more. Money rules...
