I added new 250w mh 20k bulbs and the tips on this acro started bleaching. I think it's a tri color acro but I may be wrong. I lowered it from the top of the tank but the next day it was even worst. Here's a pic...

Tank 210 RR
Cal 450
ALK 8.6
Mag 1400 (2 days ago)
Salinity 1.026
Temp 77-78
PH 8.4 (API) I know I need a controller.

It sits pretty low in the tank now. Prolly about 20 inches from surface. My other acros are doing just fine.

Just a little help. Thanks!

Did you acclimate them to the light? Meaning, did you put screen on the top of your tank and pull sections off for a couple of days? Or hang the fixture higher and lower it evrey couple of days? You can shock corals by adding too much light in an instant

No I did not because they where under 400w MH and I have 250. Well I don't know how old the bulbs from the LFS are. I just ended up putting it in the lower section of my display tank. I have a canopy and can't raise my lights. Hopefully this works. Thanks for your reply.

Yeah, you shouldn't have to light acclimate them if you reduced the amount off light they get. I didn't know you dropped the wattage. Good luck with them

Pauli said the same thing(ALK burn) but my other sps are doing fine. No ALK swings. I've been testing ALK every other day for the past two weeks since I've been fine tuning my dosing. I've been testing at 8.5/8.6 with Hanna checker.
