It's something weird, something I haven't seen before. The best way I can describe it is a translucent white film slowly growing over live tissue. It almost seems like it's suffocating the live tissue and then moving up once it's killed off that part of the coral. It's been moving at a rate of about 1mm per week. It's not STN, cause I can clearly see the tissue under this white film.

Anyone have anything similar happen? Any treatment?

Other than that the coral is growing and coloring well. It's reclaiming dead areas, but the growth is not outpacing this white film.

So it definitely doesn't come off with Turkey basting, I dipped everything before going into the tank.

No carbon dosing. Just running some carbon passively, a very very small amount 1/6th cup, maybe less. Pics are below, hopefully someone recognizes what it is and knows how to treat it, if it can spread and if my best bet is just ditching the piece.

I agree with Randy . Ditch it , looks odd to me too. If this on of my frags please let me know and i cut other piece . Never had such a think in my tank . You can always try to dip it in pro cure or iodine dip.

This piece is about 10inches down in the tank, right under a par38 from rapidled. It's in a high flow area, had it in lower flow but poylps weren't extending, moved it to higher flow, things got better, then this fungus? started appearing. It wasn't stung either :(

Mike, it wasn't a piece from you. I'm going to ditch it this evening, always another frag just like it. I'll see if I can cut a tiny nub off and place it right back where it is now.

Thanks for the advice everyone. It's really not worth it for a single piece.

:arg::( So took a look around the tank again this morning and it looks like this stuff did in fact make it onto other corals, just the spots were so small I didn't notice til now. Going to spend some time inspecting everything today.

Should I really ditch everything that has this stuff, since I know now it can spread? Or should I frag my frags :( in an attempt to save some of it?
