30 gal long reef. No sump. Run a Remora skimmer. 7 weeks ago i pulled the fish from tank and put them in QT to treat for ich. In order to get all the fish out i had to pretty much pull all the LR out which obviously created a bit of a cloud in the tank.

Immediately i had all these long cob web type hairs in the tank. Couple of weeks later i started noticing that these webs were turning brown in color. Another 2-3 weeks after that i started noticing little bubbles in certain spots. I can see more of the cobwebs on the back of the tank but cant get at them because of the LR.

My nitrates and phosphates are at or near zero. Tank is empty except for some softy type corals and CUC...basically dwarf cerith snails, a coral banded shrimp and a couple small crabs. Because of these guys, i throw a little flake in the tank every other day or so.

Why am i getting these brown cobwebs and bubbles? Pic below shows the bubbles in the grate of my koralia which i just cleaned 2-3 days ago.

I hate these things and have decided to run bio pellets

Me 3, dinoflagellates:
Improve water quality
High stable PH and alkinity
Aggresstve nutrient export mechanisms
With some patients you'll get the upper hand.

No fish in tank for 7weeks. Was actually running 2 skimmers for most of that period (figured it was good time to break in new remora). Been doing 5 gal weekly water changes which i figure is at least 25% given LR and sand. Tests show no trace of nitrate or phosphate. I don't get it.
