Removing dead&dying sps colonies after recent massive die-off in my tank. So sad to see corals I've grew for few years gone to hell:( All my parameters are in check and the die-off suddenly stopped. Everything that didnt die starting to grow again, but more than half of my sps are dead or badly hurt. I don't know what happened, truly. The only good explanation for me right now is coral war and sps tissue necrosis. The corals where fighting for space and now most of them are dead. I checked my water many times with different test kits and nothing- ph 8.2, nitrate 0, phosphate 0.04, alk 8, calcium 390-400, mag 1250. I even checked if the heater works, but to my understanding if something was wrong other corals would suffer, but all my lps, anemones and softies are just fine, like nothing happened. Well, anyway, I have an sps colonies to rebuild:(

Hopefully I can get some good deals at the swap. Pleade, anyone that I hooked up with a free frag in the past, I may need your help with a piece from my old colonies. Thank you friends and family and see everyone at the swap

That's what I think too. They started to bleach all at once but they died in a matter of week or so. This is my mistake here, cause I should have been cutting off the bleaching parts of the colony before it spread, which I didn't. Lesson learned. I'm glad that all my LPS are fine, otherwise I would be really pissed:)

I see. Thanks Randy. The whole thing proved to me that there are so many things I don't know about corals and their chemistry. Oh, and if you consider a hardy SPS for your tank, get Red Planet acropora- the damn thing looks better than before the die-off and it looks like a king of stonies in my tank now:)

Sudden die off can be very frustrating. I had this happen to a 8 x 8 red cap colony and a huge rainbow birds nest colony overnight with no explanation

There one day gone the next.
Sorry to hear man!
I have some fRags for you to help you get going again!
