I have a green acro. species(??) was given to me as a small frag. I has grown very well & fast. The other day I noticed that the rock I glued it on to moved a little and the one branch was laying in my Frogspawn. This could have been that way for 18 hrs. I corrected it and saw that the part in the Frogspawn turned white. I blew off the slime & have been watching it now for a day and a half. The green is receding fast, one whole branch is now white. It has also started to work onto the main trunk of the acro.
What should I do. I'll try to post a pic.
Thanks
Kevin

Chop off the bad\white part asap. If you can't get all the bad try fragging off what's left of the good.

That is Green Montipora Digitata.

And you need to break the white off as soon as possible.
What is ocurring is tissue necrosis. It happened to huge orange digitata in my 75, and took the entire specimen in a couple of days, and then spread to my green specimen. I never knew what it was until I looked on here.

When you break the coral, make sure you take all of the live tissue immideiately next to where the white begins. It should stop it. Then, make sure you don't stress any of your sps again.
When the coral is stressed it's resistance is lowered and this is sometimes the result.

THANKS ALL!!!
Shows ya I'm not a keeper of SPS. Wasn't sure what it was, as it was a raffle prize at one of the meetings I went to.
I will get the Dremel out and slice that one entire side branch off ASAP.
You can see the main branch has 2 stalks and I can remove the one entirely. Hope that does the trick, cause the THING has grown on me  the past few months I have had it.
Thanks again
Kevin

:D Hey Paul, sometimes I think we wouldn't mind too much if they did die

Was it the Orange Monti?

You don't need to use a dremmel. Just snap off the branch. Monty's frag easy. I think I read an article on fragging once that said a clean break is better than cutting anyway.
