i have a clam that is close to two sps corals, one montipora encrusting species on each side. the sps corals are growing pretty fast and they will soon grow in contact with the maxima clam. should i be worried? i can try to move the clam but it is stuck on tight to the rocks with the bysal (sp?) threads already.

IME, SPS don't seem to bother clams at all. My clam rubs against SPS all the time with no ill effects. I do have to trim them back often so that it doesn't get overshadowed.

I have an almost identical situation as the last poster... I got inventive and actually grew a digita onto the side of a rock and made a place for my maxima to lean against.. he sits there hapily now :) In his own natural made hammok

Depends on what SPS it is too. Montipora has a very mild sting if any at all. It loses any SPS turf battle. If it's Hydnophora or Pocillopora (more potent sting) I'd trim it back.
