I was wondering if I should be concerned that a button polyp (I think that's what it is...) is almost touching an Acropora frag? It's the only SPS I have and want to make sure it survives. It's just right of the center of the pic.

Thanks for any input you may have,

The zoe will sting the acro. I would remove the polyp is you want to keep the acro.

I assume I'll have to rip out the polyp then... It'll be hard to take out the polyp. It's so small and it'll close itself if disturbed. When closed, there's no way for me to get a good grip on it since it's recessed into a small hole. I'll try with a small 3-pronged grabbing tool that's in my computer repair kit, it but may just rip the polyp to shreds.

If I can take it out, should I be worried of any toxins the polyp may release? I have the same polyps elsewhere in the tank and they always slime-up when touched. Would this cause more harm than good if the slime touched the SPS base?

Thanks,

Mix up som kalk paste and inject it into the polyp and kill it in place. If you try to rip it up there is a chance that it may grow back if you do not get it all.

can you remove the rock? if you can you can probably cut the polyp out with a sharp razor blade or something like that. maybe then put some epoxy on the spot to make sure it doesnt pop back up. i worry kalk paste will get on the acro too, it may hurt the sps.
