All parameters are in range, and my brown star polyps just inches a way are expanding and spreading. I have had them for 6 months now, the GSPs, and just within the last 2 or 3 weeks, the mat isn't blossoming like it used to. It has spread to adjoining rocks, but the original colony is underperforming now.

This seems to be happening to many folks lately. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or if there is an observable trend. I've had GSPs close up, partially or in full, for several weeks to even months at a time. They sometimes rebound as if nothing was wrong, but I've also had colonies whither away for no explainable reason. GSPs, IMO, are pretty finicky about certain water parameters. The problem is I don't know exactly what these parameters are ;)

I've also had a tough time with GSP. Have had them for about 10 months, they haven't spread AT ALL, will stay closed for days/weeks at a time then open up

I can't figure it out. Same problem with my previous tank, but in that one I was using tap water.

This tank Nothing but RO and same experience with GSP - go figure? Everything else in tank has done quite well so far.

For some reason I can not grow GSP. Some would consider that to be lucky.

I have a similar problem now and am not sure why. They closed up completely along with my Briarium for a while until I found my damsels nipping at them. I removed the damsels and the Briarium has fully opened back up but the GSP's have only opened up about 50%. The GSP mat ironically continued to spread while it was closed up. Water parameters have not changed at all. I am thinking that maybe they are just a little more sensitive to external conditions than other creatures.

What is bizzare to me is the daughter colonies are performing well, they are even gettin larger, I am just going to keep and eye on them and hope for the best.
