I'm looking at increase flow to my 150 gal so I can add some SPS. I have my eye on a couple of Tunze products but need some suggestions.

Would a 6100 with a single controller be a better choice or two 6000 with a multicontroller?

I have a single 6200 in my 150. I plan on adding a second when I can get the funding. Get the bigger one. You can always turn it down. I run mine on pulse between 60-100%

I modded a couple of MaxiJet 1200s using the kit fom mjmods.com

They work pretty good. Lots of flow for relatively cheap cost (compared to Tunze).

You may want to go that route, if you've already got a couple of MaxiJets to spare.

Hope that helps,

On my 125 I use one Tunze 6000 on a single controller, a maxi moded 1200, a penguin PH(300 GPH), and a Mag 18 for my return. I plan on adding another Tunze by using the branch adapter.

you could also go with the 'new' korallias-very cheap, very low power consumption, and no mods necessary-best compared to tunze streams i've seen yet ;) :D

My seios occasionally seize up too, however I've figured out a reason for this, it means there's too much build up on the ceramic shaft, it literally fuses with the impeller, a soaking in vinegar tends to cure this (of course you need to get the shaft out... whack it.. but carefully :D). Then the pumps run fine, however still have not figured out why they will occasionally fail to start up after a power outage. or I unplug them.

Koralis are nice, however they are pretty damn large for what they put out, the biggest one is only 1200gph or so IIRC. If you add size to a tank, make it a push a lot of water.

Tunze are nice if you have the money, right now I'm not willing to dump that type of cash on a pump, not to mention the controller too *ugh*.

Other options are closed loops too, maybe with an oscillating device (Ocean's Motion?) they can run a few bucks too, but not Tunze bucks.

They need much more frequent cleaning than my tunze. I have the same issue with not restarting after a power outage.
