i have a pocilopora and a montipora coral that are growing too fast and causing problems. the pocilopora makes a lot of baby colonies all of the place so I am going to remove it, but i need to remove or kill the babies before they sprout all over the place. a montipora is also encrusting over another montipora that i like.

all the corals are on big rocks so i cant remove them and frag them off. is there a good way to kill them safely? i dont like killing stuff but they are getting to be problems. or maybe if i can break off rocks underwater without causing a avalanche, but i dont know how i would do this.

I have no advice, only an observation- :D most people would love to have those problems!

I usually just take an old knife with a sharp point and chisel them off. This works pretty good. You could probably at least get a few bucks or some trades for them at a frag swap.

i would cut away what i can and kalk paste the base of the colony.

btw- i have the same problem with a green tipped pocilapora. colonies are sprouting everywhere...even on the glass!
i have left them for now, but i wouldn't have believed it unless i saw it with my own eyes 8O

You could try cutting a piece of black garbage bag and rubberbanding it around the coral, the absence of water and light should kill it.
