Hm, this is odd. Because I have all of my leathers in one section and they are fine with each other. I mean, yes apparently, yours aren't getting along. I'd just move them.

But I have purple sinularia and green nepthea and routinely touch one of my toadstools because their stalks are long and float about. My finger leather (if that is Lobophyton) is by itself amongst clove polyps and anthelia and does fine, but those are not leathers.

I would just seperate them. It's not worth the dead tissue, keep them pretty.

It won't kill it....but the part that's touching will never look happy, as it's being irritated.
Most leathers are not aggresive enough to take out another coral, although Sinularia can be.

I find that most larger leather corals can irritate other leathers more readily in smaller systems. I have also witnessed in a nano a leather that melted away after being placed to near a finger leather.
