I've set up a tank 50g, when temp is good I swished around some gunk from an established filter pad.

Is it ok to add fish in 2 weeks? Is it possible to wait too long that bacteria will die?

You should be fine in a couple if weeks. If you have a canister filter or hang on back filter add the used filter material. If I was in your situation I will use the old filter pad and start adding fish a few days later. If you are worried about ammonia spikes add prime. You can also use API saltwater test kits for freshwater. You just need test cards. Which you can get online. Just do an image search.

What's a table top tank? What are you planning to add? Is your filter powered by an airstone or powerhead?

Thanks for the info. It's a 39" diameter table aquarium with undergravel filter powered by two pumps on either side and a submersible filter/powerhead. Going to add air stone and glofish tomorrow.
