I have a 120 reef tank with a Toms Rapids filter and a box in the back lip of the tank to bring water to the filter. I am getting a 90 gallon as an addition and am wondering of the pluses and minuses of having that box vs having the tank drilled with a hole in it to allow the water to flow into the filter. Not sure if the 90 will have a wet/dry, or canister but probably a wet/dry.

Friends, your thoughts on drill, don't drill. Thanks.

IMO....drilled is the way to go when using a sump....pluses to me are not having to worry about the HOB overflow screwing up and causing a mess. Minuses??

The only down side i can funk of is space limitations: either for the actual sump or equip you have already fitting into sump or equip you would need to get to use in sump

I have had both and i prefer drilled hands down
