Fragging Yellow Fiji Leather

I recently got a new YFL and would like to frag it. I have heard they are harder to frag than other leathers. Is this true? How long would you keep it before trying to frag it? I've had it about 2 weeks now and is very healthy, it is about 4" around. I was think of taking about a 1/2" notch out of it.

Any suggestions?
