i posted about a week ago and finally got a camera and found out how to post pictures. I have green and red/pink/purple algae growing between the sand and the glass at the top of the sand bed. Can anyone identify it? and is it good or bad or nothing to worry about?

algae growing between the glass and sand is normal even down to the bottom of the sand bed. If it's isolated to a single spot it might be a pocket of nutrients that's built up over time. Algae can grow even at the bottom of the sandbed because the glass actually channels light from above and emits it along it's surface. It's not the most efficient transmission but it's enough to feed the algae.
