Is it Cyano or Hair algae or both?

On one rock, I have a brownish-red mat covering the top side. On a few other pieces of LR, I have little green hairs. I have had the lights off fro the last few days. The tank is only about 2 weeks old, so I know it is still cycling. I have no livestock in it, except for a little hermit who hitchhiked with some LR. I have chaeto in my fuge.

I have to check par, but is it possi to have an outbreak with virtualll no llivestock? Could the chaeto be the nutrients feeding the bloom?

There will always be some die off on your new liverock especially if it's uncured. That will supply nutrients to your algae.

Thanks Frosty. So should I do anything? Will the Cyano and green hair die off as the cycle continues and if i keep the lights off?

Thanks Kathy. I am cycling about 2 weeks. As you know, seeing a clear, new tank just fuels the fire to want to fill it with livestock. I guess my hermit hitchhiker will have to do for now.
