HI Group,

My Bangaii Cardinal came down with this overnight and dropped dead.

My concern is trying to ID it and see what I can do about the other fish in the tank as well as being a little paranoid about what I read.

Couple of websites indicated that pop-eye is casued by the same virus as
TB in people and that you can catch it. But they didn't go into how or wht to do about it.

I was able to catch the fish very easily and the the picture shows the state the fish was in. The eye are very large, and you could see individual scales "sticking" out. There was also a legion(sp) or something that you can see.

Any info would be great.

You'll have a problem definitely id'ing the real culprit without a microscope and culturing facilities. To the best of my own knowledge, that really appears to be a very virulent, fast-moving bacterial infection. I would begin treating with a broad spectrum antibiotic such as Melafix.
