Lighting During Cycling

Since I'm already over budget I would like to continue to search for a bargain on a used light fixture while I begin establishing my tank. Can I cycle the tank with ambient light?



My Planned Setup

26 Gallon BowFront with overflow
10 Gallon Sump Tank
Will Cycle with ~30-40lbs of live rock in 2-3" of live sand

I cycled my live rock without any lights. others may have different opinions.

yes, this will also keep algae from getting a head start in your tank
