opionions on a amiricale sl-15 hob wet dry/ skilter

recently got an amiricale sl-15 hob wet/dry filter. has anyone ever used it, the skimmer is broken, is it worth fixing or should i just use another skimmer? planning on filling it with cheato and lr rubble and mangroves. any feedback would be appriciated or ideas on how to mod it. steve. would especially like to hear from someone who has actually used this

i figured lr and cheato would be ok, i know to stay away from bio balls. thanks for the reply nelson

Well Steve,I guess as long as no bio-balls,it can make a decent sump or fuge.
